Sunday 3rd August
The Gods were smiling over Castle Hill when they presented a perfect blue sky day for the Rockets inaugural Gala Day.

This was the first chance for many in our In-House Development Squad (6, 7 & 8 year olds) to pit their skills against external teams. The day was organised for 16 under 6’s year teams and 16 under 7’s teams to play against each other in a round robin style format. Teams who showed skills in the round robin were invited to play exhibition matches in the afternoon.
It was a great surprise to all involved to see teams from all over Sydney wanting to come to Eric Mobbs for the Day. Teams from Barden Ridge, Manly and Glossodia (amongst many others) traveled long distances to join in the fun.
The day went off without a hitch thanks to the efforts of the Gala Day organising committee Brian Senstius, Grant Ginger, Damien Berridge and Helen Molyneux. Various other Rockets Committee members, friends & family also helped out throughout the day despite having playing and coaching commitments and this was greatly appreciated.
A special thanks goes to the team of young referees from our junior ranks who made the day a success:
- Jared Molyneux
- Karl Anthony
- Robert Milligan
- Fabian Verdi
- Haytham Shokry
- Nadine Shokry
- Jordan Anastasi
|
- Billy Bestford
- Jake Nicholson
- Billy Conditsis
- Pascal Nair
- Arian Hemmati
- Blake McSweeney

...all are congratulated for their efforts on the day!
The real success came after the event with the positive feedback from visiting clubs requesting that we make the Gala Day a yearly event. This has confirmed that the Small Sided Games format is here to stay and the vision of last year’s Rockets Committee to introduce the SSG format has paid dividends for our young players and will continue to ensure that they actively participate in games and learn basic skills.
